Welcome to Pattern Making Made Easy! My name is Margaret, and I am the founder of Pattern Making Made Easy and Let's Learn to Sew. I have been sewing for over thirty years and teaching others how to sew and design patterns for about fifteen years.

How Pattern Making Made Easy Came about...

Several years ago, I had a friend ask me to help her develop a modest swimsuit line. She had the drawings but not the technical knowledge to create the patterns. I made the patterns for her, and she went on to launch her line. At the same time, I began offering pattern blocks in the Let's Learn to Sew Shop. The pattern blocks quickly became a hit, but I also received a lot of requests for help altering the designs and questions about how to design other patterns. So I added a section to Let's Learn to Sew about pattern making. Many of my readers contacted me with the same comment "You make pattern making so easy!" So to keep Let's Learn to Sew focused on sewing, I created Pattern Making Made Easy.

Where Do I Start?

That depends on what you want to learn. I suggest starting with some of our introductory articles about pattern-making tools and terminology. I do my best to keep things simple, but you may find some of the terminology and tools unfamiliar if you are new to pattern-making.
