Pattern Blocks

Pattern Blocks to make Pattern Drafting Faster and Easier

I'm very happy to announce we now have Pattern Blocks to make Pattern Drafting Faster and Easier in the Let's Learn To Sew pattern shop! One of the things that I think keeps many designers from playing with patternmaking is that initial block. I know for a long time it was what held me back. Not because it was hard or I didn't know how it just seemed too time-consuming and honestly a tad boring.

After I got over that and began working on patterns I decided to make the basic blocks available in our shop.

Pattern Blocks, What Are They?

Blocks offer a great foundation for drafting ad manipulating patterns. Unlike slopers, pattern blocks have ease added into the design. I drafted these blocks to give you a jump-start on your pattern making.

The Let's Learn To Sew Pattern Blocks are ready-to-use pattern blocks, in a variety of sizes and blocks. Suitable for use when drafting childrenswear patterns. Use these blocks to develop shirts, vest, jackets, sleeves, and much more.

Pattern Block Details

Right, now we have two available blocks. The girl's bodice block for sizes 4-12 and the boy's bodice block in sizes 4-12. The pattern block finishes at waist level. The sleeve to fit this pattern is included, it's a basic long sleeve but of course, can easily be altered to the length you desire!

The blocks were digitally designed and feature the layering option you will find on almost all of our patterns! This means you can print only the size or sizes you desire! If you're unsure how to use the layering option we have a quick video that will show you just how easy and useful this feature is!

How To Alter and Use A Pattern Block

Choose a bodice block based on your child’s chest measurement. Measure snugly over the child’s underclothes and use that measurement to determine which basic bodice pattern to use. Patterns have 10% wearing ease in the chest and waist.

PLEASE NOTE: As with all our patterns we cannot accept returns on this item. You will need to have pdf reading software installed on your PC to view the files.
