Hey guys, do you hear those crickets? Oh, that would be me going AWOL. Oops. No, I actually haven't been absent, I've been building a new, self-hosted website! You can have a sneak peek here at my temporary domain address. A lot of the pages are still blank, but...I'm slowly migrating the content over to the new space. I will be reverting this blog back to isntthatsew.blogspot.com, but I will be leaving this site live and linking to it on the new Isn't that Sew website!
I'm really excited about the move to a self-hosted website. I was feeling a little boxed in over here on blogger. Some of the options just weren't available (or easily available) for me to grow this space. On my new site, I'll be positioned for future growth, read a built in shop and member log-in area! I also plan to refocus my content. I feel like God is urging me to share the talent he has given me in a more profound way. So, I'm going to do just that!
The site will look fairly similar, but..it'll have a new color scheme and a few differences in function and layout. Overall, it will be a cleaner, more focused space!

I recently made the switch from blogger to squarespace and I couldn't be happier with the switch! I took a peek over at your new site and so far I LOVE it. Can't wait to see how your space evolves!

It looks awesome! How exciting! 🙂

Thanks Charlotte! I'm a little nervous about loosing all my links...from Pinterest and what not...but, either way. I think it's the right thing!
RuthLoiacano
Thanks Liz! Did you you have any hiccups along the way?
Miriam Schulman
good for you Ruth! I have my own website but I wonder if I should move my blog which is on blogger to something else-- i am just afraid of losing my page rank.

I lost quite a few of my blog posts during the transfer but the error was me, not squarespace. Long story. The other problem I had was with a few particular links that would not work on a specific template. It caused me to re-do everything (template & design wise). But really, the process was easy. With the redesign it took me about a week to pull it together enough to make it live, however, it still needs a few things. I just haven't had the right amount of time to sit down and make button designs in photoshop yet. Ha! One of these days. 🙂

Wow ruth! It looks fab! I love the colour scheme - and the photos are stunning - makes me drool at the thought! I've barely ever done more than stitched a hem in my entire life, and I'd love to learn how to make clothes - I hope you'll still be sharing some tutorials for novices at your new home? x

That's my concern. But, I decided making the jump is better than not...I'm sure I'm going to loose all my links and rank..
RuthLoiacano
Thanks Ria! I totally plan to start from the ground up...so if you follow along, you should be able to sew like a professional!

Looks wonderful Ruth! I read somewhere that you can do something to transfer all your blogger links to wordpress when you import your posts, but it was a bit beyond me at the time! Good luck with it all.
RuthLoiacano
Thanks Lucy! I got your link via FB. I'll check that out!

This is so cool & the site looks great! Good for you, Ruth!

Thanks so much! I really like the interface on WordPress! It's so much easier to use that blogger!

Thanks Emma!

Most sewing books just tell the reader the tool that is needed or used without a picture of it. I haven't tried pattern making but I enjoy sewing from commercial patterns and reading books on sewing. Thank you for the information on drafting tools. I now have easy access should I desire one of the tools. Thank you!
RuthLoiacano
Thanks! I'm almost ready to make the switch!

Thanks Pam!
