Living in Texas has taught me to appreciate the end of summer and to love fall! Usually, in the fall I’m coming up with lots of projects to sew and getting ready to sew up tons of sewing costumes. However, since starting nursing school I closed up the costume shop and now focus on fun projects for my family, friends, and our house.
Today I thought I’d share with you 10 Fall Home Decor Sewing Projects. None of these are my own patterns or tutorials, just fun sewing projects I thought you’d all enjoy.
Decorative Acorns from a Tweed Sport Coat
Upcycled projects are always fun to me and I’ve liked collecting acorns for decorations since I was little. What I really like about the way Sarah made this is she sewed it from a tweed sports coat! These would also be cute when sewn from flannel or an old sweater.
A Spoon Full Of Sugar Designs ‘Pumpkin’ Coaster
SIMPLE PUMPKIN COASTERS TO SEW
This precious pumpkin-inspired coaster made by A Spoon Full of Sugar Designs just signs Autumn to me. I can almost smell the scents of pumpkin spices coming from a cup of tea on a cool fall morning. What a great use of small bits (scraps) of leftover pieces from other projects.
Lace & Burlap Table Runner by Flamingo Toes
Simple Lace and Burlap Runner
What a perfect backdrop to almost any table decor, you can change colors of lace or pom poms to match your holiday or party theme. The burlap just oozes with country autumn days to me. Outdoors or indoors this runner will have your guests snapping away to share on Instagram. I would, wouldn't you?
Autumn and Vintage Inspired Fabric Mug Cozy
Fabric Mug Cozy Tutorial Autumn and Vintage Inspired
Heading out to do some leaf-peeping, fall stroll through the neighborhood or like me, a crisp morning walk across campus to my morning classes? No matter what your fall mornings (or afternoons) bring, this cozy will be sure to set the tone for the start to your task at hand. Of course, add some pom poms or other cute notions for your own dash of personality.
Vintage Pumpkin Fall Pillow
Vintage Pumpkin Fall Pillow, another amazing Autumn sewing project from Flamingo Toes. She tells us this is super easy and you’ll love that it’s easily changed out as it is an envelope style pillow. Personally, I’m loving her pom-pom touches but you can opt to do something different or even leave it plain. Pillow covers are one of the most versatile budget-friendly items you’ll ever learn to make.
Fall Leaf Embroidery Hoop Art
O.K. well, not quite a ‘sewing’ but use some basic stitches and bits n pieces of felt and not a whole lot of time! This DIY Fall decor project is certainly going to bring a bit of the fall indoors. Can I tell you, some of my sewing challenged friends (ahem.. you know who you are) will be overjoyed I included this beauty in the roundup of inspiring home seasonal decorations. Kudos to Positively Splendid for this ‘positively splendid’ project.
Easy DIY Flannel Coasters
Juggling Act Mama certainly nailed it with the most affordable DIY project in this compilation of fall projects. These flannel coasters are perfect candidates for upcycling an old flannel shirt, pajamas, or those leftover pieces of flannel fabric you have just sitting there waiting for a purpose. Great Gift Idea and really, a pop of ‘art’ on your table. I wouldn’t be shy to ask for a set of these for a holiday gift hint hint
Witch Legs, Free Pattern & Printable
DIY WITCH LEGS WITH PATTERN AND PRINTABLE ‘FREE’
Aren’t these diy witch legs the cutest? I think so and Sewing Rabit at Me Sew Crazy really helps you out with this great pattern and printable. I don’t think you need to worry about scaring any trick or treaters away with these, so not to worry. Let me just toss in my penny pincher thoughts here for a moment. This pattern is easily interchanged for another fabric, throw some dollar store bells on those toes and you have a Christmas elf!
Fabric Cinderella Pumpkin
This beauty is oh sew (almost new sew) easy. Takes little time and what a lot of class this fabric pumpkin has when put in a trio. Top it off with some twine and a twig. Your friends will think you have the glass slipper of crafting skils. Homemade lovely really breaks this down so pretty much anyone can have these beautiful pumpkins in their home.
I have to apologize, the picture above is just a hint of how beautiful this Cinderella pumpkin is, at the time I was gathering these inspiring pictures and links the photo was not available to share.
DIY Fall Pillow from Dollar Tree Towels
The DIY Mommy is just so resourceful and making this crisp statement pillow from tea towels is just the perfect afternoon project. Did you just find out that company is coming for the holidays or need a little ‘grateful’ in your life, grab a couple of towels from the dollar tree, and put this together to brighten your days? I would seriously consider making a few extras while you are at it, put aside for gifts. Homemade is always the most special.
Wow, well, I need to get back to my studying! I do hope you found some creative smiles and inspiration here today. if you have a great project I’d love to hear from you below in the comments. Drop a link too and share it with everyone else. After all, this is the season of thankfulness and sharing is always in season.
