Homemade Pincushions

September 28, 2011 by Margaret 3 Comments

Pincushions, I adore them! They can be ever so cute and yet remain functional.

Recently I was thinking about what to make for a few close friends for Christmas. I was stumped until  BHG came to my rescue this morning. They have 22 pincushion patterns/tutorials on their site. I could make each one the same pincushion but use different fabric or I could make each pincushion from an entirely different pattern.

Martha Stewart has a cute pattern and tutorial for a strawberry pincushion and a wraparound one for your machine plus a few others. While I was looking through her sewing projects I came across this cute mens wear mouse toy to make for Izzy, Pepper and Warg for Christmas.

Of course Cafe Mom and TipJunkie have a HUGE selection to look through.

If you like mushrooms/toadstools this cute slideshow walks you through making one.

Finally I could not leave out this cute hedgehog.
Have you started thinking about your Christmas sewing projects yet? Do you use a pincushion? In my workroom I have three magnetic ones strategically placed. One is at my cutting table, by the ironing board and the third is on my sewing machine table.
Happy Pinning,
