SEWING 101: Sewing Basics

Before we get going, I want to make a note. I’m going to show you the way I was taught. My mother, who was a professional tailor, taught me. She taught me how she was trained and then showed me all the little tricks she had learned over the years. I’m not claiming what I’m showing you is the only way; it’s not! Like anything, there are many ways to do most sewing techniques and achieve professional results. I’m continuously learning new things in the training classes I take, books I read and of course trial and error. Sewing, to me, is like a journey. You’re always discovering new things and should be open to new ideas.

The following posts are listed in order from very basic to more advanced. I’m always adding to the list so be sure to check back frequently.

Your Sewing Machine

Not much sewing will take place if you are not comfortable with your sewing machine. If you are intimidated by your sewing machine or are unsure how to begin sewing with it I suggest you take our free Sewing Machine Bootcamp.
